December Product Rollup: Watermarking, AutoCAD, and Migration App

2022 is coming to a close, and we’re excited to bring you one last round of improvements to the Egnyte platform just in time for the beginning of a new year. This month, we’ve got updates to watermarking for viewer-only permissions, UX improvements across the platform, AutoCAD DWG file preview for the Egnyte Android app, and various enhancements to our Migration App. Read all about it below.

Platform

Watermarking for Viewer-Only Permissions (Limited Availability) – Watermarking is now in limited availability for users on the Platform Enterprise plan, as well as a new Egnyte offering,  Document Room (available in beta). Admins can enable Watermarking for files previewed by Viewer-Only Permission users and set as defaults for newly created Document Rooms by going to Settings > Configuration > General. For more information, read the helpdesk article.

User Home Dashboard Improvement – Recent Files and Bookmarks sections now have more vertical real estate after removing their static images from the user home dashboard. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.

New Project and Document Room Folder Icons – New folder icons have been added for Projects and Document Room (available in beta) to distinguish between regular folders, Projects, and Document Rooms. These updates will be rolled out across the Egnyte platform in phases, with updates to the mobile apps planned for 2023. For more information, read the helpdesk article.

Recent Files Shown Increased from 10 to 50 – The number of files shown under 'Recents' has increased from 10 to 50.

Default Search Location Changed to Current Folder – When a user executes a search query without any advanced search parameters, the search location field will now default to “Current Folder” unless the user executes the search from the User Homepage, in which case the search location will default to “Any” folder. Users can search through the entire domain by toggling the search location to “Any”. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.

Mobile

AutoCAD (DWG) File Preview in Android App – Egnyte customers with the AEC Package can now preview AutoCAD DWG files in the Egnyte Android app in addition to the Egnyte iOS app. File preview is generated automatically when the file name is tapped in the listing view. Once the file is opened, users can perform actions like moving the object, orbiting the object, and zooming in and out. Users will need to download a special plugin to enable this functionality. For more information, read the helpdesk article.

Migration App

Opt out of Sanitize – Migration Operator can now opt out of Sanitizing entirely during a migration job. Opt-out can be selected on the command options modal (Data Migration Options or True-Up Options) or can be specified on the Advanced Options modal (On the Source, On the Fly, Ad Hoc, or Never). For more information, read the helpdesk article.

Improved Agent Update Behavior – If an agent needs to be updated while migration jobs are in queue, the agent will now first allow all jobs to finish before updating. New commands will be held in a queue and initiated sequentially after the update is complete. If the Windows host system indicates an update is pending, the agent installer will still proceed. For more information, read the helpdesk article.

Self Healing Jobs – Once the Migration Operator sets a migration command in motion, it will now continue to reconnect, if an interruption occurs, until the job is complete. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.

New Support Log Upload for Help Tickets – When the Migration Operator submits a support ticket within the Migration App, all necessary local logs will now be included in the ticket submission automatically. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.
